Getting Started Premium/Admin Users
Important: If your organization uses the insightsoftware Platform (SaaS), do not follow Steps 1–3. Licenses and users are managed through the Platform, not through SAP transaction ZGLSU. Follow the steps in the Process Runner GLSU and Platform below, then begin at Step 4: Upload new Add-ins (Premium Only). If your organization is on an on-premises license, follow the Getting Started for Premium Users section below and begin at Step 1: Maintain the GLSU License (Premium Only).
Process Runner GLSU and Platform
Platform is the unified location for Platform subscribers to maintain all licenses/users for any insightsoftware product which has been onboarded to the Platform. This section shows you the basic tasks of using the Platform. GLSU specific platform documentation is added below. For Uniform Platform documentation, see docs.platform.insightsoftware.com/hc/en-us/.
When using GLSU with the insightsoftware Platform, you need to select the SAP system you want to add and login. Then you need to authenticate on the Platform. To select the the SAP system and authenticate on the Platform, perform the following:
- Open Process Runner GLSU tab in Excel.
- Go to GLSU ribbon > Options > Add system. The GLSU Options window appears.
- In the Workbook tab, select the SAP system you want to add and sign in.
- select OK to close the GLSU Options window after sign in.
- Select the Login icon on the ribbon under the Platform Authentication section. The Welcome to insightsoftware! dialog appears.
- Enter your email id and select Continue.
Note: If you do not have the log in credentials, contact the insightsoftware Platform administrator of your organization.
- After signing in, select Logout.
- When prompted with Do you want to log off of GLSU Cloud?, select No.
- Select Retrieve Validation Data from the Utilities section.
- Sign in again to the same SAP system or client. Your license is now active.
Note: You need complete this process once for each SAP system and client combination.
The Platform administrator of your organization is responsible for allocating licenses from the pool of licenses available and setting up new users. If you are a premium user, you can be the administrator, especially if your company uses no other insightsoftware products.
The process of user maintenance and other information in Platform is documented here, docs.platform.insightsoftware.com/hc/en-us/. Before using the Platform for user maintenance, you need to understand the user mapping in Platform and GLSU detailed below:
- Platform Administrator = GLSU Premium User
- Platform Power User = GLSU Standard User
While assigning licenses in Platform, an Administrator/Premium user should be assigned both Administrator and Power User licenses, whereas for a Power/Standard user, only the Power User license needs to be selected.
Logging into the Platform as an Admin user, and then subsequently SAP will create/update/delete your licenses on SAP automatically, as well as add users based on what is assigned in Platform. Logging in as a power user will add a user as well. SAP GLSU Users are never deleted in this process. Deletion is done using standard GLSU user delete functions within the maintain users feature in the ZGLSU transaction code in SAP as a premium/admin.
Getting Started for Premium Users
Premium users at your organization is responsible for maintaining the specific users who will be using GLSU.
After the GLSU software has been properly installed on your SAP system, use transaction ZGLSU to start the GLSU program. Premium user functions are accessed by selecting the Premium User Functions button.
To get started, the Premium User(s) need to do the following tasks in order presented. These steps are explained in detail below.
- Step 1: Maintain the GLSU License (Premium Only). This step tells your copy of GLSU how many seats have been purchased by your company. This must be done for each client in which you want to use GLSU.
- Step 2: Maintain Premium Users (Premium Only). You will need to name at least one Premium user before anyone can post using GLSU. This must be done for each client in which you want to use GLSU.
- Step 3: Maintain Standard Users (Premium Only). You can either have GLSU auto-register the standard users or you can name them manually. This must be done for each client in which you want to use GLSU.
- Step 4: Upload new Add-ins (Premium Only)
